Senior/Associate Structural Engineer
SBK are looking to expand their structural engineering team by recruiting a senior structural engineer to assist the engineering team in the preparation of project deliverables.
The ideal candidate will have experience in design and will have worked on concrete, steel, timber and masonry projects to construction stage and produced a high level of structural calculations.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our continued success. You will be responsible for designing, analysing, and overseeing complex structural projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities
- Lead SBK project work across a number of projects, being an outward facing point of contact for clients, but still engaged with technical delivery.
- You will be a capable structural design engineer, able to work independently and to supervise and check the work of junior colleagues within the team.
- Structural Engineering design for a variety of building projects, of both new build and renovation projects.
- Collaborate closely with architects, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare calculations, and reports, plus review engineering drawings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and quality standards.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members.
- Participate in project meetings and liaise with contractors and stakeholders.
- You will be required to attend design team and client meetings, site meetings and inspections.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes and procedures.
- Use of design software packages including:
- Tekla Structural Designer
- Tekla Fastrack Suite
- CADS Masonry, RC and Foundation design packages
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in civil and/or structural engineering.
- Approximately 7-10 years post-graduate experience, working on building structures projects.
- Demonstrable experience of working at a Project Lead/Senior level, including management of staff.
- Achieved or close to Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Great team-working and personable approach to clients.
- Prepared to work as part of a team or as an individual.
- Candidates must be willing to spend time on site and occasional stays away from home.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
