Four extensions and internal refurbishment for Warwickshire County Council to provide new student places for the school
The project comprises of 4 new extension wings to the existing school to provide new classrooms, SEN space, music room, drama studio and offices. There are also refurbishment works to the existing buildings to upgrade spaces for teaching departments.
SBK were appointed by Speller Metcalfe to deliver Stage 4-5 civil and structural engineering design of the tender scheme. The extension wings are formed in steel frames with composite metal deck slabs in line with the existing structures, and tie in at each floor level with adaptation of the existing frame.
The blocks are supported on piled foundations in order to minimise foundation excavation in proximity to the existing building. The overall design has been co-ordinated with Speller Metcalfe and the project team to enable phased construction in different areas to enable the school to maintain operations throughout the construction period.
