65 Church Street was built in 1908 by Osborn, Pemberton & White for use by the ‘Diocesan Lodge of the Girls’ Friendly Society’ (a women’s only hostel).
The building employs an early example of a hydrid steelwork and concrete frame with a red brick Edwardian Baroque façade. SBK provided civil and structural consultancy for the conversion to 15 high end residential units.
This includes a two-storey vertical extension providing two duplex penthouse apartments comprising the reuse of elements of the existing steelwork frame complimented with new hot rolled framing and SFS systems.
